Williams Revives Iconic F1 Colors With Special Madrid Grand Prix Livery

Williams has unveiled a special livery for its FW48 ahead of the Madrid Grand Prix, paying tribute to the team’s historic FW07C and its appearance at the 1981 Spanish Grand Prix.The updated design was presented by Carlos Sainz during a Williams event in the Madrid fan zone. The car features a distinctive combination of white, green and blue, with the colour scheme serving as a tribute to the team’s heritage and its long-standing presence in Spanish motorsport.The choice of livery also carries a personal connection for Sainz, who was born in Madrid and will compete in front of his home crowd for Williams during the Spanish capital’s first Formula 1 weekend.Williams Team Principal James Vowles said the team’s historic achievements remain an important source of motivation as it continues its push to return to the front of the Formula 1 field. He also welcomed the opportunity to connect the current Williams team with its successful past, describing the special livery as a link to the squad that raced at Jarama 45 years ago.The FW48 will make its first competitive appearance in the heritage-inspired colours when Williams takes to the Madrid circuit.
