Racing Back:McLaren Hits £3.5B

McLaren Group, the parent company of the Formula 1 team, is now valued at approximately £3.5 billion an increase of more than sixfold over the past five years.

This impressive growth was made possible by changes in the company’s ownership structure. In 2020, MSP Capital acquired a 33% stake for £185 million, but more recently that share was purchased by Bahrain’s Mumtalakat sovereign wealth fund and CYVN Holdings from Abu Dhabi. In December 2024, Mumtalakat also sold its controlling stake entirely to CYVN. Team Principal Zak Brown noted that only a few years ago McLaren was in a difficult position, but today the team is once again fighting for victories and benefits from a simplified shareholder structure.

Last year, McLaren won the Constructors’ Championship for the first time since 1998, and in the current season its drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, lead the standings, having secured 12 victories in 15 races.
