The Las Vegas stewards disqualified both McLaren cars after the skid block under the floor was found to be below the minimum permitted thickness.
Post-race inspections showed that the plank on the cars of Norris and Piastri measured between 8.74 and 8.96 mm short of the required 9 mm leaving the team no grounds to avoid exclusion.
Following the double disqualification, the classification shifted: Russell moved up to second place, Antonelli to third;Leclerc and Sainz advanced to fourth and fifth, followed by Hadjar, Hulkenberg,Hamilton,Ocon, and Bearman.
In the Drivers’ Championship, Norris retained the lead with 390 points. Piastri and Verstappen now share second place on 366 points.
All intrigue now moves to Qatar the title fight is only intensifying.
