Motorsport icon Eddie Jordan dead at 76

One of the brightest figures in the world of motorsport, Eddie Jordan, has passed away at the age of 76.

RaceBrief.com reports that the legendary Eddie Jordan died at his home in Cape Town, South Africa, surrounded by his family.

Eddie Jordan was born on March 30, 1948, in Dublin. Although he began his motorsport career as a racing driver, he will be remembered primarily for his diverse roles within the sport. Throughout his career, he supported drivers as a manager and later established himself as a team principal by founding the Jordan Grand Prix team in 1991. He also supported world champions such as Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill.

The Irishman’s energy and deep passion for motorsport will always be highlighted within the racing community. His family released the following statement regarding his passing: “Eddie brought energy and a unique charisma to every event he attended. His absence leaves a great void in our lives. We hope the fond memories of him will ease our sorrow.”
